{"id":777,"date":"2019-01-16T20:53:46","date_gmt":"2019-01-16T20:53:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stjosephsqueenstown.co.nz\/?p=777"},"modified":"2019-01-16T20:57:21","modified_gmt":"2019-01-16T20:57:21","slug":"garston-church","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjosephsqueenstown.co.nz\/index.php\/2019\/01\/16\/garston-church\/","title":{"rendered":"Garston Church"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Garston Church \u2013 Notice to Parishioners <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Parish Pastoral Council of St Josephs Parish Queenstown (\u201cthe Council\u201d) wishes to bring to the attention of all parishioners that there has been an approach made by the James McNamee of Garston to acquire the Garston church and adjoining lands from the Diocese.\u00a0 The Council having considered all relevant matters is inclined to accommodate the request of the McNamee Family subject to: 1 Receiving comments from members of the Catholic Community, Queenstown Lakes, Kingston, Athol and Garston; and  Approval and ratification by the Bishop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"mce_4\"><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reasons for the proposed disposition include:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">(a)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nThe McNamee Family donated all of the relevant\nland to the Diocese some 100 years ago; <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">(b)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nThe Garston church is in a state of serious\ndisrepair and needs to be either demolished or repaired; <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">(c)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nAt present, church services at Garston are\nundertaken by Father Jaime sometimes in the houses of the local Garston\nCatholic Community; <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">(d)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nAny such arrangement would secure the church for\nthe use of the relevant Catholic Communities for up to 25 years at no cost with\nthe McNamee Family agreeing to undertake all restorative works and pay all\nincidental costs so as to allow ongoing use of the church for the purpose of\nworship. <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>The\npurpose of this notice is to invite members of the Catholic Community to let\ntheir thoughts be known and in this regard, please contact Revell Buckham on\n021 435 4105 or Alan Brown phone&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>03 442\n9086 (by the 15<sup>th<\/sup> day of February 2019) with any questions or\ncomments that you may have.&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Garston Church \u2013 Notice to Parishioners The Parish Pastoral Council of St Josephs Parish Queenstown (\u201cthe Council\u201d) wishes to bring to the attention of all parishioners that there has been an approach made by the James McNamee of Garston to acquire the Garston church and adjoining lands from the Diocese.\u00a0<span class=\"more-link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stjosephsqueenstown.co.nz\/index.php\/2019\/01\/16\/garston-church\/\">Continue Reading<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["entry","author-sis","post-777","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-general"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
